一本の木が今日の姿になるまでには、幾十年、時には百年を超える歳月が流れています。丸岡銘木は、大正三年（1914年）、初代・丸岡丑太郎による創業以来、百年を超える歳月にわたり、材木という仕事を通じて皆様の暮らしと建物づくりに携わってまいりました。
私が代表を継いだのは1978年、四代目としてのことでした。以来、木という自然からの恵みと向き合う日々を重ねてまいりましたが、その姿勢は初代から変わることはありません。
私たちが扱っているのは、単なる建材としての木ではありません。一枚の板、一本の柱に刻まれた木目、色合い、香り、年輪が語る物語――そのすべてを、住まいや建物を彩る「美術品」として捉えています。良い木は住む人の暮らしに静かな豊かさをもたらし、時を経るほどに味わいを深めていきます。
四代にわたり数多くの木と向き合ってきた中で、私たちが変わらず大切にしてきたのは、自然からの恵みである木への敬意です。一本の木を選び、伐り、材として仕上げるまでには、多くの目と手、そして経験の積み重ねが必要です。その一つひとつの工程に誠実に向き合うことこそが、良い材木をお届けするための唯一の道だと、初代から受け継いだ思いとともに考えています。

Wood carries time within it.
A single tree takes decades — sometimes over a century — to grow into what it becomes. Since our founding in 1914 by Ushitaro Maruoka, Maruoka Meiboku has spent more than a hundred years working with wood shaped by nature, and through that work, taking part in the homes and buildings our customers live in.
I took over as president in 1978, as the fourth generation to lead this company. In the years since, I have spent my days facing the gifts nature gives us in the form of wood — and that stance has never changed since our founder's time.
What we work with is not simply building material. In a single plank, a single post, there is grain, color, fragrance, and the story told by its growth rings — and we regard all of it as a work of art that enriches the buildings and lives it becomes part of. Fine wood brings a quiet richness to those who live with it, and grows more beautiful with time.
Across four generations of working closely with countless pieces of wood, one thing has never changed for us: respect for wood as a gift of nature. Choosing a tree, felling it, and finishing it into usable material takes many eyes, many hands, and years of accumulated experience. We believe that facing each of these steps with integrity is the only way to deliver truly fine timber — a conviction passed down to us from our founder.
Going forward, we will continue to hold a sincere respect for the beauty of wood, and to support the buildings and ways of living that will be passed on to the next generation. We remain committed, as a team, to being a partner our customers can continue to trust.
